Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton Win Easily in New York Primary

Donald J. Trump wrested back control of the Republican presidential race on Tuesday with a commanding victory in the New York primary, while Hillary Clinton dealt a severe blow to Senator Bernie Sanders with an unexpectedly strong win that led her to declare that the Democratic nomination was “in sight.”

The Queens-born, Manhattan-made Mr. Trump was poised to take most of the 95 Republican delegates at stake, substantially adding to his current lead over Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and significantly improving his chances of winning the Republican nomination.

Trump Leads, but Kasich Support Reaches New High Ahead of N.Y. Primary: Poll

Donald Trump remains the top pick of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters nationally, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich has gained the most ground, according to the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll.

Trump remains at 46 percent support this week, unchanged from last week. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz dropped 2 points from last week and now has 28 percent support. Kasich has 19 percent support, up 3 points from last week.

Nevada Gov. Sandoval endorses Kasich

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval endorsed John Kasich for president on Saturday, a potential boost for the Ohio governor in his quest to deny Donald Trump the delegates he needs to clinch the Republican nomination.

“John Kasich is the only candidate in the race with a real plan to deliver results, and he is the only Republican who can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall,” Sandoval said in a statement. “I look forward to helping his team spread this message to voters in the months ahead.”
